BIOGRAPHY

Edoardo Liberati is an Italian guitarist, composer and teacher.
His style and musical research take inspiration from both traditional and
contemporary jazz currents. With his original compositions and performative approach he is constantly looking for a synthesis between these two worlds. Edoardo is curious and open to many musical genres, which contributes greatly to his personal sound and the conception of his musical idea. In fact, he still considers himself a fan of Rock music.

TEENAGE YEARS

A journey through music  beginning in adolescence, playing in different Rock bands of Rome, the city where Edoardo grew up. Within these bands he recorded some EPs. Once he finished his higher education , Edoardo opted to become a professional musician. It is precisely at that point that his great love for Jazz blossoms, deciding that the study and researchof this music would be the basis and foundation of his artistic path. He then began playing in various Jazz groups and then started his professional career.

DE DOELEN HALL CONCERT

At  Rotterdam Conservatory (“Codarts”), where he studied four years. He took part in numerous workshops under the guidance of internationally recognized musicians such as Jonathan Kreisberg,Peter Bernstein, Gilad Hekselman. During this period he distinguished himself as the  leader and founder of a very active group in the city and national scene, the “Liberati Quartet”, winning the prestigious “Erasmus Jazz Prijs” competition in 2017.

The group actively played and toured in countries such as France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Italy. He started composing his own music, producing an EP (“Upside Down”) and a full-lenght album (“Countertime”). The album “Countertime” was presented at the famous Dutch concert hall “De Doelen”. With the same group “Liberati Quartet”, he played the support act of the famous dutch band “The Ploctones”.

2018

GENERATIONS WORKSHOP

MONFRA JAZZ FEST

In 2018 Edoardo was invited to participate to the workshop “Generations”, which took place in Frauenfeld (Switzerland). During this seminar he played in the orchestra directed by Maria Schneider, and had the opportunity to study with worldwide renown musicians such Donny McCaslin, Nate Wood, Jason Lindner. In 2021 he played in the Italian festival “Monfra Jazz Fest” as the opening act for the group

Acoustic Band” (Maxx Furian, Mauro Negri).In 2022 Edoardo was selected among fifteen other guitarists from all over Italy toparticipate in the first edition of the “Jazz Guitar Award”. In the same year hereached the finals of the regional competition “Lazio Sound”.He recorded his first album as a band-leader, entitled “Everyday Life”, published inSpring 2022 with the italian label GleAM Records. Edoardo invited Nico Gori (whoboasts collaborations with Stefano Bollani, Fred Hersch, etc.), one of the bestclarinetists in the world, to participate as a special guest of the record. The album waspromoted with a ten-date tour in various regions of northern Italy.

2023

JOHNNY RADUCANU FESTIVAL WINNER

In October 2023Edoardo won the prize as best composer at the “Johnny Raducanu” festival held in Braila, Romania.

2024

TURNING POINT

In 2024 he recorded and published his second album, entitled “Turning Point”, this time in a trio line-up. The album was promoted with a tour in northern Italy and Croatia, in addition to the “Fano Jazz by the Sea” festival and again at the Monfrà Jazz  Fest. The album was officially presented at the worldwide famous venue Casa del Jazz (Rome).
